Maribor Adult Education Centre (AEC Maribor) is a public institute involved in adult education. It is an educational, information and guidance centre. It has always reflected the needs of community and responded to market demands, new development streams and to individual wishes.
Adult Education Centre was constituted by Maribor Municipality in 1922. Since then in its long tradition it has educated children, youth, adults and seniors.
AEC Maribor aims to become one of the leading educational centres for adults in south-eastern Europe by excelling in quality, reliability and professionalism. A mission of AEC Maribor is to offer its participants of all generations quality lifelong education and guidance to enable them to live full personal and creative professional lives. Our participants can take part in formal educational programmes offering primary school and vocational education as well as university level education.
Participants can improve their knowledge and computer skills in different programmes from general ones to more specific programmes for design, in Internet use and e-mail correspondence.
We organize Slovenian, English, German, Italian, French, Spanish, Russian and other language courses for children, youth and adults and are carriers of Goethe Institute licence. General education is constituted of programmes of Slovenian Institute of Adult Education, programmes for seniors, for improving employment possibilities such as Project Learning for Young Adults and other. Organized studying takes place at the Centre for Individual Learning; people can join study circles or attend various seminars.
AEC Maribor is a coordinator and partner in many European projects.
