University of Maribor, Faculty of Organizational Sciences, eCommerce CenterFacts The University of Maribor today includes nine faculties, a university college, the University Library and a Residence Hall for Graduate Students and Visiting Professors. The University of Maribor is trying hard to assure quality post-secondary education in selected disciplines. The research is advancing and is taking place at all the faculties and the university college inside the frames of more than 300 projects, in which more than 90% of all the people employed at the University are highly engaged. The University of Maribor also represents one of the main institutions that provide outstanding conditions for regional development. The University of Maribor is also very active at all kinds of co-operation. It is included in the international development of the Association of European Universities. Faculty of Organizational Sciences has more than 40 years old tradition in education and today provides 4-year university programs of Production Systems Organization and Organizational Information Systems and 3-year higher professional programs of: Organization and Management of Production Systems, Organization and Management of Human Resources and Educational Processes and Information Systems in Organization and Management. Graduate and postgraduate study is also possible at Faculty of Organizational sciences. Research at the Faculty is organized in 5 laboratories and in the eCommerce Center. Several electronic commerce solutions implemented in Slovenian organizations originated in prototypes developed in the EDI laboratory established at the University of Maribor in 1992. Out of the laboratory and Slovenia's Electronic Commerce Project, a Center of Electronic Commerce at the University of Maribor emerged in 1995. The Center, which is now called eCenter, consists of five laboratories: eMarkets Lab, eProcurment Lab, mCommerce Lab, eCollaboration Lab and Information Systems Auditing Lab. The Center was established by eight major organizations as a mean of connecting businesses, government and the university with the goal of the implementation of electronic commerce between organizations. The eCenter is involved in research projects, prototyping, consulting, education and training all in the field of e-commerce. Currently employs four full time researchers and three associated members. Many times the eCenter represent the environment n which undergraduate and graduate students do their research projects and help them to transfer theoretical knowledge into the practice.
